Hi There,

Happy new year!

I am a Canadian Citizen and I got married last month in India and looking for a way to get my wife to Canada asap.

From what I have read, there seem to be two options:
1) Call her on Visitor Visa and apply for PR as inland
- What are the chances of my wife getting the visitor visa? I would provided all the detail in the letter of invitation regarding what I plan to do after calling her to Canada (ex. apply for inland PR)
2) Apply for PR as outland - typically ~12 months

3)?? Also, there are international students(study permit) or work permit holders who call their spouse on dependent visa, is than an option for a Canadian Citizen? It seems to only take them 2-4 months to call their spouse this way.

Feedback greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
VP

1) Chances of a TRV being approved are low. However you can certainly try- some get lucky. To increase your chances of being approved, your wife needs to demonstrate strong ties to her home country (e.g. employment, property ownership, etc.). If you say that you are applying for the TRV to bring her to Canada and apply inland, refusal is pretty much guaranteed.
2) Yes - this is the most likely option.
3) There is no dependent visa for Canadian citizens. This option is for foreign workers and international students in Canada - so does not apply to you.
