Bringing my Son to Canada

Hello,

I am a vietnamese Immigrant who is currently living in Canada as a student. I have applied for PR through sponsorship from my canadian Husband, and am now trying to bring my son from Vietnam to live with me. I have full custody of him, and am wondering what category of visa I should apply for him. He was listed on my PR application as my dependant who would join me later.

Should I apply for a Temporary resident visa for him?

There is a good chance the TRV would be refused especially if you plan to have him live with you.

If your PR application has been completed then your son can be sponsored through Family Class dependent sponsorship.
If your PR application is not completed then you can request your application be changed to accompanying dependent.

Where would I find the forms to amend my application? I'm sorry this can all be confusing to navigate especially when I am busy with other things during the day.

If you listed him as non-accompanying and need to change him to accompanying, send a Webform.
