Bridging Open Work Permit - Quick Question

Hi,

I was recently told that in order for me to apply for a BOWP I will have to be selected from the pool after applying for PR. Is this true?

I always thought I can apply for a BOWP as soon as I've applied for PR and I didn't need to be selected...because the BOWP is for people who are still waiting to be selected.

Please advise!

You need to submit your PR application before you can apply for BOWP

An EE profile is NOT a PR application. You need to receive an invitation, i.e. being selected from the pool, before you can submit an actual application. BOWP is NOT for those who are still waiting in the pool.

Thank you for the reply. So, if I don't get selected from the pool, there is no way to extend my permit and I will have to leave the country?

You won't be able to get a BOWP. But cannot say from this whether you are eligible under other. programs. If you have a current employer, you can explore whether they will apply for an LMIA for you....
