Hi Seniors,

I am currently working with a closed work permit and my wife has an open work permit.

I am working on a contract and both my contract and my work permit will expire in March 2018.
I currently applied for my PR and received AOR. (FSW Inland - AOR is in June)

I will be unemployed after March 2018 and I know that I can get an open work permit.
My question is can my spouse get an open work permit? Or can she get a visitor visa?

I am scared that she will have to go home until we get our PR and it may cause an issue with our PR Landing.

I really appreciate your help.

Thanks!

Once you get a bridging open work permit, then she can apply for an extension of hers. Hers is always based on yours (if she has a spousal open work permit? You did not mention so Im assuming). She probably has the same expiry date on her WP like you right?

Before your bridging open work permit is approved you can keep working in implied status, but I think she won't be able to (if hers has the same expiry date).

Again, thats my understanding. Im going almost through the same situation now.

Please someone correct me if Im wrong :)

Hi Irada,

Thanks for answering. Yes, she currently has a spousal open work permit and we have the same expiry dates.
