Friends, I am on a closed WP and my spouse has an open WP. I am planning to apply for BOWP in few months even if my closed WP is expiring in November 2014 since my current project may come to an end and I will be asked to leave the country.

My question is, should I also apply for a BOWP for my spouse or just me?

You will be asked to leave the country? Like asked from your employer to assign you
to a project in a different country?
Or do they just want you to leave? [ not possible as long as you hold a valid permit to stay and work here ]

Depends on how long your spouses WP is still valid. If it's valid for another year, probably till a decision
on your PR application has been made it doesn't really matter, does it?

My project might come to an end soon and then I will have to leave the country since my employer will not pay me in Canada anymore once the project is over. I am planning to apply for a BOWP even if it does not expire in 4 months (expires in nov 2014). Just wondering if I should apply for BOWP for my spouse too even if her current OWP expires in Nov 2014.

From your timeline in the forum I can see that you applied for PR in November 2012. So you should
expect a decision on that application by November this year ( 2013 ).
You can totally apply for a BOWP for yourself, as you want to stay and work in Canada but your spouses
WP is valid for more than a year. I don't know if it will be approved, and you actually don't need it.
Because once your PR is approved you don't need it anymore.

May wanna wait for more ppl to respond, but if it was my application, I would just wait for CIC
to make a decision on my PR.
For the time being, apply for a BOWP for myself.

I hope I will receive my PR soon. I received a medical request 2 weeks ago and completed the same. I am just waiting for CIC to send me the PPR.

See, once that's all done your set. PR in Canada. Then you don't even need the WP anymore.
As you, as a PR, can live and work all over Canada anyway.

Yes, that's why I said, apply for BOWP for yourself. You don't need to apply for a WP for your spouse, as current
WP is valid for more than a year.

Even my current closed WP is also valid for more than one year. But since it is closed, I really cant work for any other employer. So by applying for a BOWP, I can atleast work for a diff employer if BOWP is approved by luck... :)

Exactly. Attach a letter explaining your situation. And with a little luck you'll get it approved. Or
you have to complete your landing before your current WP expires.

Yup.

You're lucky. Wish I was that close to getting my PR approved, too. But I haven't even submitted
my application yet. :/

Not sure how much lucky I am. I am a little worried about the medicals. My wife was asked to attend medical furtherance when she landed here as a visitor. She then reported to public health care once she landed in Canada but was discharged of inactive TB after looking at the chest x-ray. The x-ray was clear when we did it as part of cec medicals but I am just worried if cic will ask her to go for medical furtherance now again :(...do u know anyone in the same situation?

You are exactly in my situation and have asked the same question I wanted an answer. I applied BOWP for myself and got it approved yesterday thou my current permit was valid until Apr 2014. So my wife has Open permit valid until Apr 2014. I was wondering whether I shud apply BOWP for my wife now or it doesn't matter.
