Hello:

I am trying to help my brother with an issue of getting his Canadian and/or U.S. Military Birth Certificate. Both of our parents have recently passed away and we have no idea how to do this. Both parents were U.S. citizens and my family moved to Argentia, Newfoundland somewhere in the early- mid-1950's. My father was serving in the United States Military. My brother was born in Argentia, Newfoundland in December of 1957. My brother is now in his late 50's and needs to obtain his U.S. Social Security Card--which has been lost. I have the following questions, if you can help:

1. Who is contacted to have a certified copy of his birth certificate?
2. What forms of I.D. will be required for him to obtain his brith certificate?
3. Is there a Provincial, as well as Military, Birth Certificate that needs to be obtained?
NOTE: if a Military Birth certificate will be required, do you happen to know from where this is obtained?

Thank You very much for any assistance.

Hope this helps:
