I'm a professional body piercer living in California and I'm looking to move up to BC. Problem is, my field of work isn't typically recognized or isn't something typically needed so I feel my occupation wont help me. But I really don't want to give up what I do for a living. Do I have any hope?

I also have a girlfriend of many years and her grandparents were born in Canada but her parents are not Canadian citizens. Would her grandparents citizenship in Canada help her to immigrate or does it have to be direct mother or father?

If neither of these are realistic, I'm up for suggestions.

If your gf's parents aren't citizens of Canada, then she can't apply for citizenship. If they are Canadian and born in Canda, yes. However, these types of applications usually have to be filed before the subject (your gf) is 18 years old.

I doubt her grandparents would be able to sponsor her. Grandchildren have very specific rules (including the requirement of being orphaned.)

I'm not aware of body piercer being a defined skilled or semi-skilled professional that any of the provinces sponsor. Here is the page for BC, so you can see what I mean. FYI, I'm by no means saying anything about you, just passing on the government's definition, which is solely based on their needs.

In reality, your best bets to immigrate would be to find a job that will sponsor you or go back to university inside Canada and become part of the Experienced class. That is, unless you have other qualifications or education you haven't mentioned.
