rene, try ug pa qoute sa global link ug athena travel agencies, basin moanagay ka sa ila price then maka inquire ka bahin sa bagahe..

mangutana lang ko.. pwede nako iSend to CNO ako TOR through courier (LBC, JRS, FEDEX, etc) or dapat sa regular post office gyud? given nga university sealed and stamped in university envelop.

mag mail nako 3 days from now, just want to make sure if okay lang ba mag courier. sauna sa NCLEX and CGFNS application nako, ang TOR nako gi-post office nako as advised by my friends kay di daw dawaton if dili thru snail mail. naa pud ingon nako nga okay ra daw as long as sealed and stamped sa school. but application forms nako thru fedex.

kinsa naka-experience diri?

thank you!

@baby_gurl - based on what i did for my CRNBC forms.... since our school won't send the documents... i had the TOR and RLE forms packed together with the document from school..

regarding the courier, it won't matter whether courier (lbc, fedex, etc) or mail... but on my part, i only sent it through registered mail... don't have the budget for courier thats why. hehehe ^_^

Philippine Airlines to among gi sakyan from Cebu to Manila, then Manila to Vancouver, then sunod is Air Canada going to Edmonton.

Sa PAL and Air Canada ang allowed kilo per lagguage was 23 kilos, and 2 lagguages per ticket. But sa Cebu, ang 3 namo ka lagguage kay ning overweight ug 2.5 kilos each... but nahangyo ra namo (otherwise, there are fees), nag "please" "please" mi sa checkin counter sa PAL. na swertehan pud, ning sugot. heheheh...

However, sa Vancouver, automated man and ang machine kay di man mahangyo, so we ended up taking some stuff sa lagguages to a paper bag para hand carry. good thing is wala kaayo mi hand carry aside from a sling bag and a gym bag.

Im not sure kung pila ang mabayran sa PAL kung mu excess ka, but in your Canadian connecting flight, sangit jud nah, kay airline policy man nga not more than 23 kilos per lagguage. dili pud pwede nga 30 kilos ang isa and 16 ang isa... kailangan not more than 23 jud ang isa. sa Air Canada ang checkin nila is self-service, murag ATM machine and inig checkin sa lagguage kay dili mu dagan basta more than 23.

if I remember correctly, the hand carry luggage must be less than 7kg and must fit the overhead compartment, along with the hand carry is music players, reading materials, etc, and yes, if they suspect that your hand carry is heavy - they'll ask you to weigh it. Just to be safe, just distribute the load to 22.5 kg per luggage (kay ang timbangan baya differs... in our case, ang timbangan sa Air Canada kay mas gi bug-atan kaysa timgangan sa PAL, mas maayo nang naa ka 1/2 kilo allowance.

Choose wisely sa imong idala... in our case more than 50% of what we brought here kay walay gamit (or something nga pwede ta ilisan diri), so we ended up missing some stuff nga naa ron sa balay sa akong mama nag standby. For example, I brought nearly 3 kilos of books... which eventually was just available for a few bucks here, instead we left a collection of shot glasses from the countries we visited which have been nice as a decor.

wohooo!!! just now, naka dawat ko ug tax refund miski wala pa ko file file ug tax return! :) daghan jud kaayo freebies diri Canada oi! for those coming here with kids, take note of this...

to maximize, i suggest nga to be early sa airport... if you're taking domestic before international, then you can just ask your higala nga mu hatod ninyo, to wait outside for you while mag check-in mo... inig check-in ninyo sa domestic, you can always make use of the empty check-in counters to weigh your bags. then once duna excess sa 22.5 kilos then i sulod ug plastic bag/paper bag then i uli nalang ninyo sa inyong mga higala.

that's what we did, we brought several paper bags while ga timbang ko sa PAL domestic, luckily nahangyo namo ang taga PAL and by mere chance gi advisan mi nga i hand-carry nalang ang uban once masangit sa Canadian domestic... sure enough it did happened.

inspired jud? hehehe, im just passing forward the news about Canada. Anyways, follow the link that I've given and just print it for now. Just bring a photo-copy of your latest Tax Return from pinas para dali ra ninyo ma compute... Ari ra ninyo fill-up-pan kay it will need a SIN, (which you can get in day one). The GST tax refund form explains how to compute. then once here, i sulod lang ug ordinary envelope and send it to a specific Tax Centre address assigned for your Canadian province.

in my case, I declared what we earned for the past two years sa pinas, converted it to CAD based sa instructions sa form and the tax refund that we got is $35. That's $35 per quarter for one year ($140) for both spouses, basically doing nothing... just print a few pages, fill it up, sign and putting it sa mailbox.

note: this is GST tax refund, the income tax refund is different, and it may happen once subra ang taxes nga gi bayad sa people kaysa ma gasto sa province. Two years ago, it happened daw sa Alberta, and for couples working together, a tax refund via cheque can pay a month's rent! I hope it will happen this year too.

maharlika: hope you finalize to take Edmonton as your destination city...
