Birth certificates - Translation

Hi, for inland spouse sponsorship, the checklist requires a photocopy of the prinicpal applicant's birth certificate. If it is not in either english or french, I am aware that it must be translated however:

1) Do I submit the orignal translated document, translated and signed by the translator or is a photocopy of that sufficient?
2) Can I still submit a photocopy of the original birth certificate in the foreign language or does it have to be a certified copy?

The instructions on the website are unclear to me. Anyone have experience with this?

Thanks!

Hi.
It depends a lot on the country where the person is from.

In my case, my Mexican birth certificate needed to be legalized and translated.

All original certificates must be sent for the process, except the Canadian one. We send the legalized originals and the signed translations. If you send a photocopy your application will be returned.
