Along with medical examination, I am asked to submitt passport,RPRF and birth certificate.for the last 2 months I am trying to get my birth certificate from my home state but I am unable to get the certificate till now. The last date to submitt the certificate is approaching fast and I am in a fix. Please advise me what to do in this situation(if the office do not issue the borth certificate)?

Can you say which country you are trying to get from and people from here could give you ideas how to get it faster if they are from your country.

yes, which country. Birth certificate should not be a problem, if you don't reside in the same country, you can seek help from the country's embassy

If you stay in the same country where you want to seek birth certificate i think it dont take more than two days. If due to some reason its taking longer you send you documents to CIC and just mention them that you birth certificates taking longer than normal time and you will send them as soon as you get.

Dear rupeshhari,neyo,bluepine

thanks for your reply.i am from India. At present i am staying away from my home state so my relative has submitted the application along with all the documents (like matric certificate, copy of passport) nearly 2 months back but the concerned officer is not issuing the certificate for reason best known to him.So in this situation what alternative document i can submitt to visa office new delhi.

Try to get it from that officier may b he need som tea / coffee money. If its not working i think you can write it on stamp paper your birth and attest it from notary public. But wait what other say may be they have better solution. I know one of my friend who did the same and also get your identity card attested by notary public i hope your birth date mentioned on that as well apart from passport.

can an affidavit be used for a birth certificate?

it worked for my brother in law as he facing same problem reason being there was no criteria for regiestiring child in villages so he didnt have any record of his birth, so he wrote on stamp paper and get it attested by notary public, sorry forgot he also attested from foreign office as well. Also attested his NIC which he translated in english.

I also read somewhere that someone used a notralised letter from parents indicating birth date and it accepted by CIC.

I think CIC shouldn't ask birth certificate from Indian residents who were born before 1980 because it's very difficult to get it and issuing authorities put you in real mess.

They should treat our passport, detailed mark sheets, voter ID's etc. a legtimate proof of birth.

Hi BS,
I also got my birth certificate from India/delhi, yes it is very very lengthy process in general, it took more than one month

First we had to submit the details of birth registration to SDM office( if it is not registered then you need to provide lots of documents / proof )
Once you submit the application along with affidavite and address proof, school (Xth class) crtificate, photos, reference ( from immediate family) to SDM office, some one visit your place and do some inquiry

Then it will be sent to court ( in my case it was Tis Hajari , Old delhi court), they will give you some date may be 2 weeks time
After that you need to collect the order from court ( that will have 'Issue Birth Certificate' order from court / judge) and submit to the muncipal zone of your area, they will again give some 7 days time to issue a certificate

I started this process when I sent my application to CIO, so by the time I got approval email from CIO, I also had my birth certificate.

- If you are not in INDIA you can get birth certificate from Indian embessay as well ( I know that is not valid for USA Green Card processing, but I have not seen any such information related to Canada PR,)

Good luck

Dear pv

Thanks for your reply.I was born in punjab but at present I am staying in different state. My relative has submitted the affidivit, application form, matric certificate, copy of passport but still the certificate is not been issued till date and the last date is approaching fast. I want to know wheather any alternative document can be submitted?

Maybe you can write an affidavit and then get it validated/attested by an Executive Magistrate from court.

If I am correct, in India while we apply for passport - if an applicant has no proof of age/birth date, then an affidavit can be submitted as a proof of birth certificate however this is the case for illitrate applicant.
No idea whether CHC will accept this as a proof or not but certainly if it is attested by a senior magistrate's court then it might work for you.

Good luck.

as u have mentioned that u r from punjab. then let me tell u that u have to pay some money to the concerned official at the registra office. otherwise u will never get ur birth certificate.
