Hi,

Can you please advise if anyone submitted the 'Secondary School Certificate'(10th class) for Birth Certificate. I've submitted the Birth certificate which I get it from Indian Embassy based on passport but they were saying that's not a Birth certificate. In that document it's written as 'If you are unable to provide a birth certificate, we do accept secondary, matriculation or school leaving certificates as proof of birth'.

Can you please confirm, if anyone submitted like this.

Thanks in advance.

I had Birth certificate from consulate but I preferred to submit 10th certificate as former seemed me as Invalid

if your birth certificate is in English and it has either parents name or both , then don't worry proceed with that

Hello Kiran to be on the safe side, I provided an attested notarized copy of my birth certificate, along with my 10th standard certificate that has my birth date on it. All the docs were notarized.

I hav submitted from Indian Embassy which was given based on passport. It was well accepted.
So you can submit the certificate of birth given by embassy. Added to that your X standard also has your DOB
which will also be used as supporting.

cheers,
Candy

Hi Kiran

I submitted my husband's High School certificate (translated into English and affidavit by the translator/notary officer). It was well accepted as proof of birth date.

Hi, I have gone through same situation(Little bit different). Many senior Guys suggested affidavit & secondary school certificate is safe bet.

I remembered one guys suggested below video link from CIC which says you can submit affidavit.(Replace DOT with . & remove space.)

www (DOT) cic.gc.ca/english/department/media/multimedia/video/complete-application/complete-application (DOT) asp

Thanks Everyone for your suggestions.

Okay, I'm going to notarize the matriculation(SSC) certificate and send it to them.

Hi,

If we do the Notary(Xth class memo) in India, is that okay? or we have to do it here in Canada only.
We got the high school certificate translated into English and then the translated Certificate was notarized (both done in India). Along with this notarized copy, we submitted a copy of original and affidavit from same notary officer that he translated based on original certificate.
If you have Certificate already in English, no need to get notarized. Only translated version needs to be notarized.
