Hi Everyone,

Has anyone applied for Visitor Visa Extension (Temporary Resident Visa Extension) within Canada recently?

I am currently staying in Canada with valid Work Permit and applied for the extension of Visa (TRV) with in Canada. I have received a Biometrics Instruction letter which states that I have to go out of Canada to do Biometrics with in 30 days as there are no centers within Canada as of now. My visa is already expired and I cannot reenter if I go out for Biometrics. Is anyone facing the same issue ? Please advice.

Thanks in Advance.

I think there's a type of visa you can apply for if you current visa expires while you are waiting for a CIC decision. I can't remember the name but you can google and ask people in the forum. Alternatively, you can call a CIC agent to ask what to do in case your current visa expires while awaiting a decision from them.

Thanks for you reply. Let me check on the type of Visa which are suggesting. Meantime I have contacted CIC and they are looking into my case.
I do have US visitor Visa. Any idea if I can travel to US and reenter with my expired TRV?

No. You need a valid TRV to re-enter

Yes, you can actually. For travel to and from the US with a valid study or work permit you are allowed to reenter Canada. Ideally, land travel is better but I've landed by air too. Last year I used my study permit only to enter by land more than 5 times. You may want to check with work permit.

On few occasions Ive been asked about TRV and explained to them I don't need one. I showed them email responses from CIC conforming this. I think for the air landing I showed my university enrollment letter.
