Biometrics in India for spouse

Hi all,

Me and my elder daughter stay in Canada while my wife and younger daughter stay in India. I had submitted my application after receiving the invitation to apply in CEC on August 20th, but could not submit my family's medicals at that time because because of Covid. I had recently travelled to India and got their medicals done and submitted them on 2nd December. Now I have received Biometrics request letter for my wife and elder daughter (they already have mine) on 23rd December. We took an appointment and submitted my elder daughter's biometrics on 24th December.

But when I try to take an appointment for my wife in India (Hyderabad), the VFS webform says not allowed at this time. Is there any other option through which to request or submit the Biometrics or we just have to wait? Will appreciate any guidance.

You really have two options. One is to wait. The second is to travel to another country to get biometrics done. Some people from India have been traveling to Dubai to get biometrics rather than waiting.

Thank you for the quick reply! Yes, heard about people travelling abroad for this, but I am not too sure how safe it is. I think I will wait and see for a month if the situation changes in Hyderabad. I have also written to IRCC, hopefully they will give a solution or ask me to wait. Thanks again

You can't skip the biometrics step. You'll need to wait for centres to reopen if you don't want to have your family travel elsewhere.

I forgot to mention that my Biometrics shows "October 8, 2020 Completed". Would they still wait for my wife's biometrics or would they go ahead with the application process? Thanks!
