Biometric fingerprinting different from one for the police certificate?

My wife is going to be to getting her fingerprint as part of the police certificate section of the spousal sponsorship (she's American, I am Canadian sponsoring her).
After we apply and are asked to get the biometric done, can we use the same fingerprint, or does she have to redo it?

My husband is American also; he had to get a new set of fingerprints done.
