I know there've been and I've seen plenty of these threads so sorry if you find it annoying. But most of them are like "mechanical engineering education - software engineer experience" or 'physics phd - machine learning engineer position'. Which are not the same, that's true, but let's just agree they are close and related a lot.

In my case I'm worried because I have very big misalignment here. I have bachelor degree of Political Science and Government and work experience in IT industry - 1.5 years as Data Scientist and 2 years as Software Engineer, all in the recent years and post my bachelor degree. Will my education be a significant problem to my intention to apply as one of these professions?

Cheers and thanks for the patience,

Depends on your experience and your CV, and what employers are looking for. Is your experience with MNCs? What province are you immigrating to.

I have a lot of friends working in that field and some as software engineers that don't even have a degree at all. You will be fine as long as you are good and have demonstrable projects.

In this case you have to have at least 6 complex projects done to prove you know the job.

I am a senior software engineer by the way so I kind of know what I am talking about.
