best way to add surname ( change of name) expert plz

Hello dear

I am a permanent resident in canada....i faced difficulty getting jobs in canada as i didnt have my surname added to my name....Now i am back to my native country....i want to add my surname to my passport....

kindly advise if i ll face any entering canada with change of name. though i will have change of name certificate and previuos passports and PR card with me.

should i go for change of name or not....

You are not the only one on earth who do not have surname
Do not mess up with your ID documents , that are noe done


My sister, Canadian PR, has no surname. In surname column do write your name

Getting first job in Canada is not doubt a difficult task. I don't think that surname and jobs are connected in any way.

If your intended change of name is as a result of getting married or for any other legal reason, it's probably safer to do that in Canada. Every province has a set of guidelines on how to go about the process. Thereafter, you can get a new passport from the embassy of your native country in Canada. If you get a new passport with a new last name in your country of birth, you may face a hard time convincing immigration officials at the point of entry that your intentions are not dubious. However, if your intended change of name is because you feel your current last name affects your search for jobs negatively, you may want to think twice about that. Personally, I wouldn't do it. Barack Obama was variously referred to while growing up "as that skinny kid with a funny name." Good luck!
