Thanks for your advice! I hope to get everything ready in under 1 month, but now I'm getting nervous.. Which part took you the longest?
The old rule says it takes 90% of time to finish the last 10% of a project ..

Takes time to collect all the data for the forms, write the letter to explain the relationship, check all forms for errors etc. Lots of work !

Looks like the Berlin VO is now closed; all files are being transferred to the Vienna VO.
I'm in the process of gathering the documents and filling out the application.. Do I have to change anything now? I already did my medicals, so on the form it says my visa office is Berlin.

Thank you!

I just checked cic website and it´s right, Vienna is now in charge of Germany and Netherlans too I guess.
So is that good or bad? Now Vienna has more files to work on, will the processing time increase?

That is the question. Who knows? Vienna was responsible for a bunch of other countries too, and now Germany and the Netherlands. And I don't think that the Berlin VO was not having a enough to do. It's all very strange. I can see some of the smaller countries needing to get together but statistically Berlin was busy. And Germany is not a small country. It's weird.

But yes, I suspect that our waiting time just got longer.

Really disappointed to hear that the Berlin visa office is now closed and that our files are being transferred to Vienna. This will definitely create longer processing times! I also found out on the website and my MP's office had no clue. They simply said we haven't heard back from Berlin yet - DUH! The office is closed! Well here's to hoping things move quickly!

Hi,
for those of you whou applied outland but are staying and waiting for PR in Canada: do you still have a valid address in Germany? Or can they send COPR to Canada Address? (Kann man sich ganz abmelden?)

hi waikiki,
I did have the COPR sent to my parents address in Germany, while I was in Canada, but mostly because I didn't have a fixed address in Canada. I know you can change your mailing address to a canadian address and have it sent there.( I think Indigo from the forum here did that) Officially your permanent address would be still in Germany as long as you are still waiting for PR, but I don't think anybody asks for that at this point of the process and having a canadian mailing address while you are waiting is definitely okay.

Thanks Elizabeth, so it means my husband MUST have an official address in Germany? I´m asking, because if he stays with me as a visitor in Canada and then gets his COPR, he would have to come back to Germany in order to cancel the official address ?

I'm not sure about this waikiki, for immigration Canada I don't think he needs a official german address, but I don't know if he can cancel (abmelden) his german address before he is a PR in Canada. You could just go to the 'Meldebehoerde' and ask how that works. I'm still 'gemeldet' in Germany under my parents address (where I have never lived), which means if I need a new passport I can get it in Germany instead of going through a German Embassy in Canada. I might change that one day, but right now I don't see a problem with that.
