Hello all, I hope someone can reply to this post.

I am married with a Canadian citizen, and I am applying for permanent visa via sponsorship procedure from Japan.

I also have a visitor's visa that allows me to visit Canada for 6 months.

I read that the sponsorship procedure takes about a year to be completed.

- I wonder... could I be in Canada with my current visitor's visa for the last 6 months of the sponsorship procedure? By "being" I mean that my wife would be moving there and I will just follow her.

- Or would I be required to remain in the address I reported in my application until the procedure is completed?

Thanks in advance!

Yes it is possible. What you are asking is referred to as 'Dual Intent'. Have a read here:

http://britishexpats.com/wiki/Spous...y_application_is_being_processed:_Dual_Intent

and the official CIC version here:

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/resources/tools/temp/visa/dual.asp

The key here is that you must have strong remaining ties back to Japan, including a return air ticket etc.
