Hello everyone!

My husband is applying for PR and we're currently here in Canada with him on a tourist visa. However, visitors to BC can only drive for 6 months.

Does anyone know if he can get a BC Driver's license if he's still on a visitor's visa and hasn't actually moved to BC yet?

Thanks!

No, not at the moment. He's from a visa exempt country, so only the stamp in the passport.

When his visa extension comes through (hopefully!) will that be considered a visitor permit?

Thanks for the help! :D

Thanks for that!!

We haven't been here six months yet, so at least we can still drive on our Australian licenses for a while. Plus I went to the states in August so my own six month clock restarted later, so I can drive us around while he's on implied status.

It's really good news that he can at least get a BC license if his visitors visa is extended, I'm glad to hear it! Thanks so much :D

I got a BC licence about 9 months after I arrived in BC while on a Working Holiday Visa.

All they ask for is a driving record (if you lived in NSW - which took about 4 weeks to get the original to be sent here - they only take the original - not the one you can get emailed), 2 pieces of ID and proof of address (Bank statement). They took my Aussie one off me and issued me with a full license - the same class - on the spot..
