Bank account...please help

Hello,

Im in permenent resident in Spain. Im applying study permit for Jan 2015.

I have been contacting scotiabank for GIC program, but they told me that the GIC program is only for students from India and China. then, I have been contacting Canadian banks to open a regular account from Spain, but they told me that it is mandatory to be resident in Canada for open account.

Please help me. How can I open an account in canadian bank being in Spain. In which bank??

If I submit my application without open account, can it be some kind of disadvantage??

GIC is good only for SPP visa. If you are applying under general then you can forget it.

In case you are applying SPP then it is good to have it, but even if you dont have it then you can be fine if you prove you have funds to take care of your studies and expenses and there are various ways of showing that.

You can not apply under SPP.

please check the list of acceptable documents as financial proof for study permit

u need a bank statement it doesnt need to be canadian bank statement.

"your bank statements for the past four months;"
