Baggage Capacity - Confusion

Can anyone please explain what is the baggage allowance for international economy class travellers from India to Canada?
Need to purchase new bags for travel and confused as some websites says 30kg while some websites say 2 bags of 20kg each and some other say 2 bags of 23kg each.

Anybody who has travelled to Canada recently from India, kindly share your knowledge.

Also, all bags are showing capacity in litres. 44litres, 50 litres, 65 litres and so on.
How do I properly get an idea of capacity in kg?

I cannot comment on India specifically But do not confuse the litre measurement with the weight. The litre measurement is simply the capacity of the case nothing really to do with actual weight.

The bigger the case the more you can cram in but obviously that means more weight plus the larger the capacity case the heavier an empty case would be , say 4 kgs of the allowance before even putting clothes in.

Always best to go for a bigger case taking into account both the empty weight given very little difference in empty case weight and the dimensions of the case given some airlines have dimension restrictions.

All airlines have different rules but often travelling through the US they quote the baggage piece arrangement so for example 2x23 kg whereas those quoting a specific weight say 30 kg often allow as many pieces as you want as long as the total does not exceed 30 kg.

Maybe share which specific airlines you are thinking of so people can share their experience and interpretation of the guidelines. Ultimately there is always the excess baggage option although that can get expensive if an airline charges per Kg.

Hey Harry, different airlines have varying requirements- suggest you contact them in-person or via phone and let them know its a PR visa. They should hopefully budge just like they do for student visas.
