background checks???????

i am new to this forum as i have applied for study permit and had done with my medicals yesterday i recieved an e-mail in which chc told me that they are making backgorunds checks
any1 knows what are these checks regarding ???

did they send you email themselves OR you asked them about the status of your application?

To me, background checks might mean something related to your PAST...like your education, experience letter authenticity, property documents authenticity or anything like that etc...

this my personal opinion..i might be wrong!
