Background Checks: Before or After Interview?

ok heres a question, they asked for my hubbys passport and fingerprints for ciminal record check, do you think we're past the screening part? do you think maybe he wont need an interview since he they asked for his passport? they've had it since january and we're waiting on the criminal record check

Not to sound negative but my husband has been stuck in background checks for 18 months now. My sponsorship was approved Nov '08, and the file was transferred to Vienna in Dec' 08. On Feb 10th '09 he had his interview and to this day they are processing background checks. He has lived in 2 countries and he has no criminal record, so we don't know why it's taking so long. However, it seems that there is no point of complaining as no one listens. They just keep saying 'we are still processing standard background checks' yeah great!!!

i have a question,this may be silly,but do they do background checks on sponsor as well as spouse? thanks
