My wife is a Canadian citizen and she plans to sponsor me for Permanent Residency. I am currently a US citizen. We are in the process of filling out the required forms, and I know that my background will be checked but I want to know if my credit history has any impact on my visa eligibility. I have what is considered poor credit in the US, and I don't think I'll be able to bring it up to good credit by the time we apply. Will this have any effect on my application? Does Canada check credit history for PR sponsorship applications? Thank you for your help.
