Hi all,

I am a FSW Outland application. I submitted my application on August 5th. Got the email from cic that my application has been updated. My background check has been changed to "in progress" in mycic account two days back. My FBI PCC got added to the main application on October 23rd.

What typically happens next? How long should I wait till my dm status changes.

tired of waiting.. >:(

I think it depends.

I had to wait 3 days for mine to change to DM, but others have waited a couple of weeks or more too.

Best of luck!

Rainman, have you travelled to many countries? As per fsw outland thread, some speculations that applicants without foreign visits are process faster. I wondered what's your case

In my case took 2 days but check your ECAS, DM it's coming there first not in your cic....

The BG Check status on MyCIC dashboard changed to In Progress in 2 days after AOR.
I was pleasantly surprised, and many people suggested that I'd soon receive PPR.

However, someone recently told me that for those who have been to Canada before (I was there as a student in 2011)
"BG in Progress" so early is pretty common, and it does not necessarily mean they would get PPR within days of submission.

The bottom line is, although you might get a PPR as I'm writing this, there's no fixed pattern to it.
Also, I've heard CIC makes all the updates on Tuesday. Maybe you'll get a PPR tomorrow :)
All the best.

@Lady_M, does eCAS also show BG Check in Progress? For me, MyCIC page shows BG in Progress, while eCAS shows Application in Progress, but no mention of background check.

Thanks for the replies guys.. appreciate it!

My ecas unfortunately is stuck with just 4 lines from a long time. The last line is medicals received. Looks like they just put a screenshot there and I don't think it will ever get updated. :-\

My pet theory and observation is that people whose bg check changed to in-progress soon after AOR will not necessarily get a PPR within the next few weeks while those whose bg status changes after 3 to 4 months see action pretty quickly.

Would appreciate if others as well shared their timeline details from bg check to DM
