I would like to know if the CIC is also checking tax returns. I've been to Canada before and this year 2016, I received a letter stating I owe $415 for GST tax because I already went home to my country last June 2015. I'm under s sponsorship this year and my background check is in process. Does CIC check that as well? I already sent a letter to CRA to dispute as I should not owe any amount because that GST I received came from 2014 tax return. Does background check takes too long? I'm just going to pay if that will be the issue. Thank you for all you replies and help.
