Dear Members

I applied in 2014, got acknowledged and processing started in 2015. After long wait, we got interview call which i passed in July 2017. On the second day, got medicals, submitted medical papers on 15th August 2017. Since then long pause until i sent them email and they replied:

"I’m afraid this case is still undergoing background checks. We will of course contact you as soon as these are complete"

When i am checking online CIC website ,its showing same message"

  1. We received your application for permanent residence on December 10, 2014.
  2. We started processing your application on February 10, 2015.
  3. We transferred your application to the London office on February 26, 2015. The London office may contact you.
  4. We sent you correspondence on July 31, 2017. If you have not yet provided the information or the requested documents, please do so as soon as possible. Please wait until you receive the correspondence before sending us additional information, as the correspondence will outline all information that is required.
  5. Medical results have been received.
I just want to ask is this normal, i was expecting visa stamp request within 4 months of medical but unable to understand why they are doing background check after reviewing the case and then endorsing it by interview which i passed. Also, why the online status hasn't changed.

How much time should i expect now given i am 2014 applicant and would there be any other stage now?

Your prompt reply would highly be appreciated.

Hi geranimo, it is "not" normal. However, it depends on case-to-case. There could be something that the IO observed during the interview and wanted a further examination (like e.g. travel thru certain regions). In many cases these examinations require contacting external establishments ~ and many of them will not be so forthcoming as to reply back immediately.

Just hang-in there buddy, your wait could come to a fruitful end any day now!

Dear Qorax

Thank you for your prompt reply.
As far as my interview was concerned, it was great, immigration officer was well satisfied and told me that they only called me to get some question related to my organization. Since queries were very simple IO got satisfied very easily within 10-15 mins. She even told me that I am fully satisfied and I should get medical request by tomorrow, which actually happened.

I am frustrated to the extent now after reading on the forum that sometimes it takes more than one year to get background checks and even probability of case rejection is high.

I am now thinking of now applying to Australia, which I should have done earlier because I don't want to put myself at the mercy of this process which might end up in rejection after waiting for one more year. Canada was and still is on my priority list because I have so many relatives and friends. Believe me, I am the only one left among my close friends circle and among the quorum of 6 friends only I am only left here in scorching heat of Gulf and all are enjoying snow in Canada.
