Hi - I searched the forums and don't think this particular topic has been discussed.
I'm Canadian (born in Canada) and my wife is Mexican with a TRV. We are working in the US.
We are planning to have a baby and would prefer the baby to be born in Canada (primarily to retain the ability to pass citizenship to it's children if they are born outside of Canada).
I know that babies born in Canada are automatically Canadian citizens and that we will be responsible for the costs of the delivery. But we are not interested in simply having the baby in Canada. We would like to have regular checkups with a family doctor in Canada so that ideally the doctor who delivers the baby will know the history of the pregnancy etc.
My question is if it's permissible to do this (from a Canadian health care and immigration perspective)? We want to openly say "yes, we are here only to have the baby and we will pay for it".
Thanks for your input!!
