Hello all,

I have a question about my baby's health care/health insurance plan who was born in U.S.A last year.I have moved to canada on Jan 9th 2009 on PR status and my wife who is also a PR and daughter a US citizen will be coming in on Feb9th 2009.

My question is:

1) How I am going to get her health coverage as she, most likely, will not be eligible for gov coverage or any insurance plan from Government of Canada?

2) As my wife and me will get the gov coverage after 3 months, can she be included as minor under my wife or me?

3) Is there any outside Health care company I have to take insurance from, and if it is who are they, and how can I contact them, and how much does it cost?

I will really appreciate you feed back in this matter as my baby is going to be only 11 month old and she will need shots and other care at that period of time.

Thanks again
singh

It all depends on what Province you live in. In Alberta you have coverage from Day 1. In other Provinces after 90 dyas. You will have to get private health insurance or pay out of pocket for the first 3 months.

I got private insurance for me and the family for the first 90 days and it cost about $300. The shots we paid out-of pocket and they cost us about $100.

Look up Greenshield
