Awkward situation- what to do- HELP?

Hi,

Just sent out documents for common-law. Now it looks like the company I work for, in canada, will have to lay me off at the end of the month because they are going under.

We will probably go stay with my parents, in canada for a bit and then my partners parents, in europe for a bit while searching new jobs.

This is a change of address situation- but we wont really have an address to change to since we are more in the middle/traveling. Do I wait until I have a more permanent place to inform them of the change? Or do so right away and just say "traveling"... now I feel like this will muck up the whole process

If you will be traveling during the process and changing your address three times, I recommend you give them your parents' address in Canada for future correspondence.

CIC mostly communicates by email (if you gave them your email address - that will be the primary means of communication), the only time when they use your address is to mail the COPR - which is the last step in the process. Any other document request will be emailed to you or your spouse.

If you change your current address to the one of your parents', they can easily let you know if/when something arrives in the mail for you. And can also mail it to where you are at that time, be it Europe or other parts of Canada.

That's what I would do.

Yes, I did give my parents address as the mailing address, and my partner gave his parents address for his mailing address... but our residential address will be changing, I am not sure if this is such an issue then, is it better to wait until I have a new more permanent residential address to inform them of the change? what about the fact that I dont have my job anymore, do I need to inform them right away of that or can I wait until I have a new job?

If you plan to leave with your parents then it make sense to provide your parents as your new home address...

As was said before,
they will communicate via e-mail for most of the cases...
but if a letter is sent it will be safe if it is send to your parents....

Keep your parents as your home address until you situation is clear...

Now, you may be changing addresses and I would not recommend to keep updating...

About you job... you may inform about change on job when you are already settle in your new position...

I never informed about my changes in job.... I don't think that it is necessary...
we leave in a situation that many people change jobs for whatever reason...
layoff .... want a better position.... end of contract... or some jobs are just seasonal...
