Hi guys,
I submitted my profile to the CIC on Aug 3,2018 after having received the ITA.
My medical came through as expected and I'm waiting for the final decision to come through within a month or so.
The issue now is the following:
I had applied for an MBA program at York University, and it came through last week. The course starts on January 7, 2019.
It is October 8, 2018 when I am writing this query, and I am expecting the PR status to be confirmed (or whatever) by the end of this month (by Oct 31-Nov 10). The problem is that even after I get my Visa if the PR status comes through positive, I still need to prepare and leave, and then the formalities in Canada will take up to 2 months. (Toronto processing time is slower since more applications) before I get my PR card and SSN. In the meanwhile, should I apply for a student Visa now? I think I will have to, since I need to accept the offer by November 2, 2018 (3 weeks from today), and since the student Visa process takes approximately 6 weeks to complete.
My questions therefore are:
1. If I get a student Visa now, and I get the Visa call for the PR after that (and before I leave for Canada on my student visa), how do I get 2 visas on my passport? How does it work? Do they cancel the student visa for the PR visa?
2. If I don't hear back from CIC before I leave on my student visa, do I need to tell CIC that I am going to Canada on a student visa? How will the process work if I receive the Visa appointment while I'm in Canada on my Student visa?
The university is pretty flexible and will accept me as an international student for now, and they change my status to a PR after however I get the PR.
Experts, please help!
Thanks and regards,
Pawan
