Hi
I am on H1 in US and my visa expired and I have valid i797. I want to land in Canada and come back on AVR. Will there be any issues? The immigration officers in the border aware of AVR if I land by road?
please share your thoughts on risks

No issues at all. Please carry all your H1B docs with you.

I did the same thing two months back. In fact I came via air, which has much stricter checks. On road would be much easier/faster.

Thanks 978bubun,

Could you please explain why it was harder for you to use AVR while landing via air?

I am new to AVR so need lot of guidance :)

My H1b I-797 is valid till 2017.
My H1b stamp in passport expired in 2013 along with my paper 1-94
I have to complete landing in Canada for my PR so need to go to Canada for 1 day.

Do i qualify for AVR?
What is a valid i-94? my paper i-94 is expired but the i-94 attached to my 1-797 is valid till 2017.

could you also share your return experience and questions asked by US immigration officers?
