Here is the latest update on my case:Hello everyone,
Wishing you all well.
Here are some brief details about my case.
I have not received any confirmation that my documents have been received to date or the status of my request.
- I had received my stamped Passport with COPR in July, 2024.
- I was denied boarding to a flight to Toronto in October, 2024.
- After emailing the consulate in Delhi, I was informed that I would need an ARC.
- I was highly distressed to say the least since this was never communicated to me directly anywhere in my IRCC account or email.
- I was a minor and dependent in my mother’s refugee case which was refused. We left in 2006 on a departure order and complied with it.
- We had paid for our own tickets at the time and were never detained.
- I do remember that the immigration officer had taken our passports and had walked through the whole flight check in process.
- No deportation form or certificate was given to us when we left Canada.
- Fast forward to October 2024, I emailed the embassy twice enquiring why I needed an ARC since we had left on a departure order. No explanation was provided.
- I tried obtaining information through webforms which were also unanswered.
- After contacting the call center, the agent put me on hold after 20 minutes and finally informed me that I would need an ARC.
- I had already paid the $459 fee for the ARC by this time and made my explanation letter and uploaded both documents through the web form on October 17.
Has anyone encountered a similar situation? Please let me know.
On a final note, this makes me wonder.
I thank you all for reading this lengthy post and welcome your response/feedback/critique.
- Was there some discrepancy in my immigration application?
- Are visas being granted without complete or thorough processing of documents?
- And if this is the case, are people reporting it to immigration officials?
- I understand that immigration officers may have an increased work load, but they are also responsible for a huge decision which greatly impacts the lives of applicants.
- Should someone not be held accountable for the financial, emotional, and psychological distress that this causes to individuals and families?
- it might be safe to assume that people avoid complaining due to the fear of negative repercussions to their application.
- I personally feel that the system needs an overhaul with increased transparency and accountability.
I wish everyone all the best in achieving your future dreams and aspirations.
I have a relative in Canada who contacted his local MP in December 2024 or January 2025 and continued to periodically email him. The MP personally corresponded with and met IRCC representatives a number of times over the course of this year. Since my permanent resident visa was then expiring in April 2025, we tried to insist on getting the ARC processed as soon as possible. I was informed by my MP to pay the ARC fees again and he would work on obtaining a reimbursement for the first ARC fees that were paid. Eventually, my visa expired in April and no update was provided by the IRCC by then.
The processing continued until the MP was informed in the latest communication by an IRCC representative that my permanent visa is not granted and my case has gone back into processing. Around the same time, I received an automated email in my IRCC account saying that the status of my demand has changed. I checked through the application status tracker and it showed the same thing.
Another aspect about my case is that a child of mine was born last year; I had contacted the IRCC about this and even updated them twice by webform. I have not received anything about this either on which forms to fill or what to provide them. I had pre-emptively sent the IRCC my child's birth certificate and his passport scan by webform.
Now, I am simply waiting (not much of a change from before). It is now uncertain whether my case will be approved or not. I still believe and hope for the best.
