Hi all,

I'm an Australian citizen and am planning to move to Canada. May I ask is it possible for an Australian passport holder to stay in there without a visa? If so, how long? Also if I wish to apply for Canadian permanent residence, what options do I have? And how long will it take for getting Canadian PR? Thanks.

Anthony

You need to research the various immigration programs to see if you qualify for immigration

https://www.canada.ca/en/services/immigration-citizenship.html

https://www.cic.gc.ca/english/helpcentre/results-by-topic.asp?st=4.1

For the express entry program you need in the region of 460-470 points for example

https://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/skilled/crs-tool.asp

Processing time difficukt to predict given every application is unique but could be 6-12 months.

As an Australian passport holder you would be visa exempt for a visit although you would need an ETA. You could visit for a maximum of 6 months although could be less as determined at the border.
