I wish to announce to this house that I just got my PPR this afternoon with a urgent request to submit my Passport within 15 days :-[

I actually intend traveling to the US by September 27th. I don't know what to do now (though happily anxious)

Can i risk this? do you guys have any idea on how long it takes to get maple leaf on your passport and DHL back to you

I am happy to be in the state of sweet indecision

Please Guys, I appreciate your help here- i went through the PPR mail in detail and I discover that passport should be valid for at least 6 months from the time you come for visa.
My 1st concern is My passport is valid through 28Feb2015 which is just few days less than six month (5months plus), same as my wife. what do i do? get new passports or still send these ones ( as I heard that Nigeria Immigration wouldn't attend except its like 3 months to expiry now).

2nd concern - My Wife applied with her maiden name all through the Canadian application process, can i use this opportunity of renewal (if possible) to change her name to my surname or would that affect the application?

Gat 1 day to get the information as i am also praying that I get passports back for a urgent trip on 27 Sep.

Please i need your help folks to resolve this issue today?

Congratulations whizkid82 on your PPR. I can only share my experience on your first concern because I had a similar experience but mine was too tight and I had to opt out of my official trip. I got my pick up email from AVO on Monday 25th got to DHL office on Tuesday 26th and this morning Thursday DHL called me of their intention to pick it up and confirmed 2 working days before it gets to my hand. So I believe if not that you are having a constraint of your passports renewal, you probably would have an ample time on your side to get yours back before your proposed travel. Please expedite a urgent or an express passport renewal, I believe that can happen in 2 to 3 days.

WhizKid, I am exactly in the same position as you. Mine expires end of this year. I have arranged for renewal this morning and should get it by tomorrow afternoon, DV. Hope to do my capturing later today.

Are you saying you got ur passport back from AVO with your Maple Leaf in like 4 days after request for passport (PPR)

I am looking at the expedited passport renewals. Appreciate

Whizkid, try and expedite your passport renewal first to be on the safe side. Then see how it goes. You may still be able to meet up with your September 27 trip. Might take at least 2 weeks though before you can pick up your Canadian Visa after you send passport to AVO through DHL

Hello guys, got our visas this morning. it's been a long long wait, but in his time he makes all things beautiful. A Canadian company recruited my hubby from London and he left for Canada in 2010. Our PR application was in October 2011.My hubby and I are married under the Ghanaian Customary law but not legally married so we have no marriage certificate. We have a son who is now 4years.

We applied as common-law partners and had to prove that we had lived together under the same roof for at least a year. We both provided bank statements and payslips from the same address. At the time that we declared our common-law partnership, (in Ghana even though we lived in London) was still legally married. They were separated though.There were times that I felt so worried that AVO would not recognise me as a true dependent.

All our situations are different but always back your story with documented evidence, I say the more the merrier. We later sent divorced certificate to them.In the the time that we were waiting, I was refused TRV twice to Canada. AVO has a mind of its own.

It seems that they are not faced by any Ministerial Instructions that come from the immigration minister especially with regards to backlog and waiting times. The London Visa Office for example is currently serving applicants from May, June, July 2013. AVO has yet to finish with 2011 applications. The only key here is faith and patience; lots and lots of it. For all who are still waiting, Godspeed.

For our elders that have landed please can u confirm if the founds you travelled with is in American dollars or canadian dollars? Also can we buy canadian dollars in Nigeria and where? Cos I'm not sure our local Malam will have.
I know this sounds stupid but I'm having a serious argument here and need ur advise.
