Hi everyone, Looking for some advice on my citizenship application. My file moved quickly at first, but it’s now been over 2.5 months with no updates, and PPL is still In Progress. Applicants who tested much later have already reached Oath, so I’m getting a bit concerned.
Timeline

• Nov 14 – Background completed
• Dec 12 – Test invite
• Jan 02 – Test completed
• Jan 08 – Test marked as Completed
• Since then – No updates; PPL still In Progress

Yes I have been waiting since December 17, I ordered GCMS notes and figured out my LPP hasn't even started yet (the due dates on the note was September 2026), and there is a high possibility I'll be asked for an interview. So you're not alone

I ordered "Application Summary" notes sometime in the last week of Feb, and got them exactly 2 weeks later.

Hi @novemberrain I spoke to you previously regarding changing oath date. I saw on my tracker today that my oath is on th 10th of april and i am still out of the country with a non refundable return ticket booked for the april 16th. Is that enough reason to show why I want to postpone it also should I mention my mothers illness the reason why I was out of the country in the first place. Thanks for your help!

Hi there!

Absolutely! You will return on April 16, which is very close to the initial date. You can mention briefly that you are in your home country to care for your sick mother, that you'd like to go back to attend the ceremony but it would be a financial burden for you, etc. Then you clearly tell them that you are ready/available to take the oath any day from April 20, 2026, and also attach your flight booking details. Maybe they don't care at all why you are out of the country, but I always want to tell them the back story hehe.

How to get GCMS notes.

It's a pretty straight forward process. Just Google GCMS notes and you'll get to this link. There a few different type of notes. I ordered Application Summary, and it costs $5.

I received my OHIP with updated last name on Friday, and took my photos on Saturday! I will be applying for my passport in person tomorrow, and will pick it up when it's ready!
So close now!

Hello all.
I applied from Calgary in August 2025 and everything on my tracker is completed since 31 January 2026 except the invite for citizenship ceremony.
Is anyone in calgary in the same situation?
Is this delay a calgary thing?
Three weeks ago I sent a webform requesting they speed my application due to a Job interview I had on March 20 that required citizenship and they didn't reply.

The people I applied before in other provinces have all received invite or completed their ceremony.
So I'm thinking my delay is due to my calgary location?

They responded to me saying they made a note of request and due to high volume of applicants in queue they cannot confirm the date of my rescheduled oath. They have asked me to keep an eye out for the email. Does this mean I have to wait a long time for the oath?
