Test completed on tracker today.I received test invite yesterday, January 12 and this morning my background verification was updated. However, the tracker showed that the background verification was completed on November 4.
My LPP was completed on Jan 16. Marked on tracker on Jan 20 and still no update on Oath situation. Test Team 3. So I don’t know if the team mattersHow do you guys get this Primary office, secondary office information?
I live in Vancouver, and my AOR letter signature said CPC Sydney. I don't have any other information.
(and my citizenship test invitation was from Team 2 but I am not sure if that necessarily means for the rest of the process it's the same team who deals with you file, it could just be that we get assigned to teams for the test because they have to check the recordings etc.?)
Anyway my LPP completed Jan 19, got marked on tracker on Jan 21 but still no change in Oath situation.
Did you receive citizenship certificate?Got my last update on the tracker just now:
23 January: Citizenship oath status has been updated to Completed. (but showed up on the tracker today, 27 January)
This is what it says on top of the page now:
Your citizenship application status: Closed
Reason: We have approved your application to become a Canadian citizen.
Congratulations!
You are now a Canadian citizen. Welcome to the Canadian family!
Yes, it’s normal for background verification to take a longer or shorter time depending on each applicant’s file. Some people get it completed shortly after AOR as you mentioned, especially if they have straightforward travel history and no complications.
Others take longer due to things like international travel, security checks, police certificates from multiple countries/specific countries, or internal IRCC team working. So even if many cases seem fast, a longer wait doesn’t necessarily indicate a problem — it’s just part of how IRCC processes files individually. I wish there was a simple way to know how it's done but everyone's case is a
My case is a bit different because I obtained PR through a refugee claim (protected person). I have never traveled outside Canada, and IRCC did not require a police certificate from my home country, which is usually straightforward for protected persons.Hi everyone,
Order your GCMS notes from CBSA(it’s much quicker and more detailed than requesting from IRCC) to find out where it’s at.My case is a bit different because I obtained PR through a refugee claim (protected person). I have never traveled outside Canada, and IRCC did not require a police certificate from my home country, which is usually straightforward for protected persons.
However, my background check has been “In progress” for over 3 months now.
Timeline:
I’m wondering how long the background check usually takes after AOR for people in a similar situation (protected persons/refugee claim PR).
- Application submitted: Aug 28
- Application received: Aug 30
- AOR: Nov 6
- Citizenship test completed: Jan 8
- Background check: In progress
- All other sections: In progress
Has anyone gone through the same process and can share their timeline?
Thank you.
Not yet. Will tell you folks once I get it.Did you receive citizenship certificate?
Did the agent specifically tell you that the LPP 'not started'? Do the agents actually have access to the details of your case, so that they have that level of insights? I am in the same boat with test marked complete on 1/14. I called IRCC yesterday and the agent said LPP 'pending / in process', sounded like a repeat of what is already in the tracker. I am wondering if I should call again to try my luck with a different agent, if they actually have access to detailed insights.I called IRCC today, since there has been no update on my tracker since December 17 when my test was marked as complete, I applied on August 1 and received my AOR on September 29, and the LPP on my tracker shows "in progress".
The agent told me that on her end, my LPP shows as "Not Started" and my processing office is now Vancouver (it was Sydney when I received my AOR).
I thought I’d share this in case it’s helpful for others in the same situation.
