My Fiance and I have been lurking on this site for awhile gleaning important information as to how to proceed. I am Canadian; my future wife lives in the US. we had allready decided to do an "outland " application; marryin march; assemble and mail in th application after the weding in California, and were planning on me meeting up in mid june to move her stuff up and store at the border, and cross over and wait out the permanent residence process together in canada. We are both in our early 50`s; I have worked for the same company for 30 years, and finances are not a problem for us. She decided to put her house on the market in CA. the houseing market has been very slow in her area with tons of forclosures and many homes on the market for over a year. he put the house on the market friday , priced to sell and on saturday got a full cash offer for the full price,so now our timeline has to be completely speeded up. So, our new plan is to move the wedding up to the first weekend in March, and I will go back in the last week in march and drive bcak with her to the border with her cat and dog. I will have paid the application fees for the outland application and have the recipt with me; I`ll have a letter from my employer testifying to my ability to support her , and we will have a certified copy of our wedding in california. That is our overall plan , but we have a few questions that we are unclear about. please give us any advice or any thoughts we may have over looked. 1. we know we have to leave the majority of her stuff at the border untill her PR status is approved. What will they allow through? just a couple of suitcases and supplies for the cat and dog? or could she bring a couple of boxes with her as well? 2. when is the best time to pass through the border with a minimum of hassle? daytime, Nighttime, weekends? 3.At the border we will have two vehicles : my truck from canada and her car from CA. Is that ok for her to export it from US/ to canada slightly in advance ofof our arrival at the border? or is all the paper work done right there? or should I buy it from her and put in my name? 4. She has medical insurance in CA She was planning on keping it untill she untill she has medical in surance in ontario which we under stand is there months after permanent residency status. Should she call her medical provider/blue shieldand tell them is visiting canada for a few months or might that cause her problems with her insurance? 5.Should she bring her own banking and investment statements showing she has ove r a $100000 in investments and is able to sustain herself ? we are a little worried about our time line of our relationship as we met online. have been writing since july, talking hours on the phone since late november, met inperson january and got engaged, and she is coming in early febuary to see my home and meet my family. but she was self employed with pets and couldn`t afford to keep traveling back and forth to canada espesially with the pets. We have known about our intent for months and have tons of verification: emails, phonebills, freinds and families affidavids, but our romance has been swift. given our older ages:shes a widow and I`m a life long bachelor--we just wanted to get our lives going? Is this going to be a problem? Okay, sorry for the long email, but we look forward to all you answers! thanks so much.
