On the checklist IMM5690, it says: "on the back of five of photographs, writh the name and date of birth of the person who appears in the photo as well as the date the photo was taken."

So who's goona writh the date the photo was taken? Can I just take the photo by myself depend to the photo specification and write the date on the back of the photo?

in most of the countries when someone gets a photo for immigration purpose the photo studio fix a stamp on the backside of the photo and write the date, the applicant himself write his name/date of birth on the backside.( the applicant can write the date himself too)
the photograph must me as per CIC specifications so it is better to goto a professional studio who knows Canada's immigration photo specifications.

Vida, I agree entirely with kriv. There are subtle differences between passport photo requirements and PR photos. People are rejected from time to time for photos that don't meet the official specifications (they will ask for new ones).

Here is a link to the official specifications with examples of good and bad photos. I suggest that you print this (in color preferably) and bring it to your photographer (large .pdf file):

I hope this helps!
