Asking for a new passport copy

I applied for permanent residency and passed my medical only. I later received an email asking to send a new copy of my passport as it will expire soon. Does this mean they already have a decision?

No, you are IP1 stage, they are making sure that all documents are intact!

May be you are right but on the contrary CIC thinks your application decision or landing may go closer to the expiry month of your passport. Therefore a valid passport will be required so go ahead and submit the new one. Good luck.

Hello! I've received a passport request as well since my existing passport is expiring soon. Can you please let me know how you submitted the passport copy? Does it have to be sent as a scan through email/website or does the copy have to be posted? Thanks!
