Ask about Student/Parent visas

I have a question regarding our situation and was hoping you could help us with that.
I am from IRAN with no current/previous status in Canada. My son who is 17 years old, received an admission from a high school in Toronto. I am going to accompany my child while he is studying in Canada. Here is the question:

Since my child is considered as a “minor”, what would be the proper procedure for online Visa application? Who needs to create a CIC account? Him of myself? i.e. Does he have to create a profile (and apply for study permit) and then add me as a family member (and apply for tourist visa) OR I have to create a profile (and apply for tourist visa) and then add him as a family member (and apply for his study permit)?

Most parents are not approved to accompany children to study in Canada. If you are granted a TRV it will only be for 6 months which you will have to try and renew.

Would start with seeing if he can get a study permit.
