Hi,

My wife got close to INR 5.5 lakhs at the time of wedding from her parents. She is accompanying spouse in my application and I am planning to use this money as Proof of Funds.

She got this money in the form of FDs 2 years back. Does she need to get a gift deed from her parents stating that they gifted the money to their daughter at the time of her marriage and they do not expect this money to be returned and their daughter is free to use this money as per her needs. And should we follow this gift deed with an Affidavit from my wife stating that she is the secondary applicant in my application for PR visa and she has no objection in her husband using the money for immigration purpose.

Please advice guys.

Regarding the Gift Deed, it depends when your wife got the money. It it is the last 6 months, then yes, you need to get it.

Regarding the self declaration, your wife can give one stating that the amount INR 5.5 lakhs held in FD is to be used for your migration as a family and she has no objection for the same.
