Hello!

Here is my situation, I will try to make it simple.

I am a Canadian citizen, and my legal residence is Canada for now. I am traveling between Canada and US frequently as I need to see my mom who is an US citizen in LA, having stroke suffering. I lost my job last year, and now I am planing to invest a small business in LA and prepare to apply E2 visa so that I can legally work (manage my owne business) in US.

I sold my vehicle in Canada and bought a vehicle in US, and got it registered and insured in LA with my Canadian driver license and US address, all under my name.

At this moment I will still need to travel between Canada and US as visitor, I want to drive the vehicle I bought to cross border to Canada and stay there for a month or two, the main reason I want to do this is I will have a vehicle I can use (not renting) when I return back to Canada for a visit.

I email asked the CBSA, being told that I need to import the vehicle. Maybe I did not explain my situation clearly to CBSA, so I am looking forward to get some answer: Can I drive an US plated vehicle to Canada, just visit, not import?

Thanks in advance!

you can , but you must always declare that you are living in US and you are just visiting Canada , and don't intend to stay in Canada forever , and the CAR will return to USA at end of your visit to Canada

but your insurance should cover you in Canada or buy additional insurance

I visited Canada twice using my CAR registered in USA , no problem at border

Thank you for your reply.
Like I said, my residence is still Canada for now, I entered US as a visitor (I can stay in US up to 6 months). How do I declare or prove I will bring the vehicle back US (actually I will) at the border.
