For anyone who is interested here is my time line.
AOR July 4, 2025
SA September 11, 2025
File moved to Abu Dhabi October 21, 2025
Medical passed December 12, 2025
File sat with zero movement from December until June - they requested new biometrics as they had his previous visitors biometrics on file (they refused the visa)
Biometric completed June 9, 2026

Currently sitting at background check in progress.

Not sure why the file sat for 6 months without movement but so happy we finally had something happen. Just waiting on background to clear at this point.
Abu Dhabi is slow due to the volume of applications and complexity files. My husband is Algerian but he is currently working and living in Qatar.

Good luck everyone.

It isn’t necessarily sitting it is either in line for a background check or is waiting for other parties to respond to Canada’s request for information. There are files from certain countries which almost always have longer background checks. If there is concern about your relationship or you have spent very little time in person together that can also make processing longer.

Is everything completed in the tracker except background check? Did they ask for any additional documents?

This is past standard processing timeline so I hope you contact IRCC and ask for an explanation

Standard processing time only is for 80% of cases. There have always been cases with longer processing times.
