Dear Friends,

I am applying for Canada PR under FSWP. I have my maternal uncle living in Toronto for more than 20 years now. To prove my relation with him, I have very limited documents that are also having some discrepancies.

I am worried that whether these documents are sufficient or not:-

1) I do not have birth certificate/matriculation certificate (most of them lost and it is almost impossible to get the duplicates in such a hurry) of my mother. I only have one document i.e. her Bachelor's degree certificate (with father's name mentioned on it)

2) There are further 2 more issues in it:-
a) It has her maiden name on it and we do not have any name change process undertaken. My VISA agent has told me that a self declaration in
a leading newspaper will solve the problem.
b) The father's name mentioned on the document is not having the surname (their family name)

3) From my Uncle's side I have the following documents:-
a) Canadian Passport and Canadian Citizenship Card - to prove that he is a Canadian citizen
b) Latest Bank Statement - to prove he is still living there
c) His Marriage Certificate, is the only document he has from India that has father's name mentioned on it. But the father's name is given in full
i.e. with surname (family name) on it.

I have following queries:-

1) How can I prove that the name on my mother's degree certificate is the maiden name of my mother (in India) ?
2) Will the Bachelor Degree certificate along with the change of name proof suffice the documents from my mother's end ?
3) Is the Marriage Certificate of my Uncle and Aunty, with father's name on it, is sufficient to prove the same parent for my uncle and my mother ?
4) The discrepancy in Father's name (with surname on one document, missing surname on another document) can cause any problem ?

Looking for expert advice, please help.

Thanks.

Two thoughts;

1) if you look at all the documents they have, do they connect your uncle to your mother, and your mother to yourself? Are they primary government documents? If they don't, then they are not enough. If they do, then OK.

2) Bank statement proves nothing, I would recommend some of the following:

-- recent pay stub
-- recent tax return, with address
-- utility bill
-- phone bill
-- lease/mortgage

But that's just me, I'm not an expert.

Is there any authority that creates your national id's based on your family ? For example, like US has SSN, Canada has SIN, Pakistan has CNIC, there should be an authority there that has all the records of the family.

Here in Pakistan, if someone vistis NADRA [the authority], and requests a FRC [Family Registration Certificate], they create on the basis of the registered members. For example, I got family tree of my mother family including my maternal uncle who is in Canada, he has his overseas CNIC card registered also. This way, an authority has generated a family tree of my mother's family. I din't have to get any metric certs or birth certs. Similary I got mine family certificate, which proves that I am my mothers son, and than my mother is real sister to my maternal uncle in Canada. So I had to get different certificates.

There has to be something like this in India, I am sure of it. As you guys are ahead in technology than us ;)

1. With no birth certificates or matriculation (year 10) you are probably out of luck.
