Any update?
I am still waiting too. Not to be ungrateful or anything but it is a little frustrating to have everything done but not quite "done" either. If it's still not started after next week I might call to see if they have any details beyond what's in the tracker (eg, will it be in person and is that causing the delay).

Yes it is and holding without any reason.Either they should ask any document if needed or otherwise quite unfair to see the ones who completed everything after us got oaths scheduled and done too but we are still waiting which is not justified

I don't know that is unfair, because this is just how IRCC seems to be... But from an applicant perspective it definitely *feels* like it should basically be a couple clicks of a button to finish things up. I'm trying to remind myself that there's probably more to it than I know about. However, it is a bit of a bummer to see many people get their oath letter like 2 days after finishing LPP because it makes me feel worried that I'm gonna be stuck in some limbo lol. I am really not a patient person and it's biting me in the ass right now

Exactly thats what my concern is that are we going to stuck for a longer time or is it gonna happen in a coming month or so!Moreoever we got tickets to have a visit back home in Late Nov.So i was thinking i will get the things done in August but its Sept and nothing yet which is kind of weird situation with no timelines.

ooh yeah I can see why you're extra worried with an upcoming trip. when I try to be realistic about it instead of impatient, I really do think we'll be done with the process by the end of the year. we might wait another month or so at worst but I can't imagine it would be too much longer. (knock on wood)

My friend got his background cleared after his test got completed in 48 days. Then it showed on the tracker 3 days after. His LPP cleared also after the BG update on tracker. It was this quick. I guess one has to be patient and not compare with other cases, since we are all different and we don't see what they see.

My LPP went complete on the 2nd September. After not hearing anything since June 2nd for Background it was really exciting.( I applied in March).
I called the IRCC on Thursday for an update on the oath ceremony and my overall case. . They confirmed everything is now finished and complete. Files sent to the ceremony team and they will now organize the scheduling. I asked how long this can take?? One week? two weeks etc? The response was it takes as long as they need, to be able to fit you in! I suppose that means it depends on where you are, and where you are in the batches of ceremonies that need to be completed?
My tracker says the ceremony has not started yet, but I certainly got the impression on the phone that it was happening, it was with the ceremony team and I would find out soon.
Once again patience is the key I suppose. I have a feeling mine will update this week...

Thanks, it's good to hear your experience! :)

Hi All, my current passport is expiring in 5 weeks. I was expecting to get some update on my application before that, but there is no update since July 14 (test updated as passed and received ADR). Should I renew my passport or is it ok not to? I have no travel plans or anything, just wanted to know if my PR status will be impacted if my passport expires. Will they consider it as overstay?

Applying for renewal may cost me some 100-200$ but more importantly it may complicate the whole process. Anyone in the same situation? Or know something about it?

Canada doesn't care if you renew it now, or later, or never. It won't have any bearing on your citizenship app.

You won't (obviously) be able to travel until you get your Canadian passport though. And you may need your home country passport to visit there (most countries require you to enter on that passport).

So no harm if you want to renew.

If IRCC asks for copies of your passport(s) pages and stamps during the process, you should also do for the new one, but only if they ask - they only do this for some smallish percent of applications though (mainly to check physical presence).

If you don't have travel plans expired passport wont cause any issues. It does not impact your PR status nor ongoing citizenship application.
