Reposting this from the March thread just in case my return reasons are helpful to anyone:

Well friends, looks like I'll be joining the April thread. My application has now been returned twice. I really, truly, feel like an idiot. Why is it that so many people get this right and I keep messing up?

There were two reasons noted:

1) We only included the 2015 NoA, not 2016
2) We listed my (PA) mailing address in Canada and did not include the Use of a Representative form

Resending tomorrow. Hopefully third time is the charm.

Feeling pretty upset even though I expected this after reading about the above issues on the forum. It seems so unfair that they return applications based on requirements that are not even listed in the instructions. Oh well.
I know its very upsetting seeing it returned, we were going to use immigration lawyers this time around had it returned for the third time, got it right in the second round. Linked the account yesterday and will see when they ask for further documents etc.

Use some company or lawyer to go over your documents three times is a lot and you are right they do not give you full information with regards to what could have been the reason for return.

These are simple thing that could be avoided in the first place.
1) for NoA, you need to provide the latest one and if you do not have 2016 NoA then you can print Option C which is available on your CRA account (sing up for CRA account if you havent). you can find all your tax related details there.
2) The application is for Principle Applicant, so if you write your address as the mailing address that means that PA is using someone as her representative. you need to put her address or if you wanna keep your address then send representative form with it and write your info as the representative.

i dont think you need to go to any lawyer regarding these info. they will charge you hundreds of dollars for simple things.

With all due respect, I really don't think these things were easy to avoid. You might know about these things from reading this forum (which I do too, but only after submitting my application) but neither item is addressed in any of the checklists or guides. Obviously I know now how to fix both issues, but people get their applications sent back for these reasons every day. These are the most common mistakes because there is no instruction given in regards to either. 2015 is the most recent taxation year until April 30th.

When people say AOR does that mean that they have recieved your application and are starting to process it or does it mean approval in principle for sponsorship eligibility stage

AoR is Acknowledgement of Receipt, meaning that they've received the application and that it's complete.

I sent off the package on April 20 and heard back on the 21 it was opened by the family sponsorship team. Question my husband is in the states and submitting his paperwork for the FBI report. On their website it told us it can take 3 months! Is this actually true? I just read on here some people only had to wait 3-5 business days? (He has no rap sheet)
