Well its some comfort to know my stuff just saying I'm going back might be good enough...

Here's hoping i get a response soon.

I hope i get an answer soon because this stress is packing on the pounds lol if it takes any longer i am going to have to buy new jeans .. :P

I'm curious, and 100% without judgement i just don't understand.

Why do people apply as common law? It seems like far more potential headaches and having to prove things than just getting the legally married paperwork done. I'm interested in hearing peoples reasons, Am i wrong thinking its more difficult?

Lots of reasons. They could be a young couple and they don't have the money to have the wedding of their dreams .Young couple first time living together in another country wants to make sure this is the real deal .Family can't all get together for the wedding.Been married before feel their is no need for a piece of paper to say their relationships real. They are already married and can't get a divorce in an appropriate time frame ,so apply as common law and get married later. I myself applied as married but i supplied them with every thing like we were common law as we only got married in Dec 2013 and we have never lived together.

Just curious….

Did anyone get confirmation from CIC that their application was "received"?
I sent my package with tracking and it was signed for in Mississauga on April 4th (on day 41 now). I mean, I know it got there but aren't they supposed to send some kind of notification that they threw it into a pile?

Wishful thinking? Thoughts? lol

the trend has been that AOR comes hours or just days before SA, so it's typical not not hear anything until they are processing the application and are ready to determine SA. I got my AOR on a friday, and my SA that next monday. Some people discuss getting them the same day.

Just have a question in regards to all the acronyms if someone can explain them to me please:

SA
AOR and there are some others I cant remember.

Please and thanks.

SA - sponsorship approval
AOR - acknowledgement of receipt
Ecas - the online system to check application status
MP - member of parliament

there is a thread with all the acronyms listed in case you encounter more...

I know there is still 1 day left this week but I'm not holding my breath. Looks like we all have a long weekend of waiting coming, :-[
