How did you find the CAIP process? Painless? (Something tells me "not painless".)

Actually uccemebug, it was very simple. Access to Information and Privacy Division (ATIP) sent me an e-mail saying they could not find my spouse's information. They asked me to verify my spouse's name, my name and our Visa office. I gave them all the information as well as my birthname, which I think it is file under instead of my English name. I just received the CAIP notes today and it is in the new GCMS format. Requested July 18 and received it today so not that long at all! Best thing is they sent the pdf file by e-mail and probably saved 2 weeks right there.

Edit: For anyone interested in ordering CAIP notes I'd recommend waiting at least 4 months before doing so, because there is very little information if you order it too early.

Nice work. I'm becoming tempted to do the same for my own because Tokyo's now had my application for ten weeks and according to the posted times Tokyo's supposed to be 1/3 faster than Germany or Austria and our German-speaking friends are already on their way while I'm still in "Application Received" limbo.

If your Visa office is one of the faster ones then I would not hesitate to order your CAIP notes. I am pretty sure most apps received are actually in process but they do not update on CIC website.

Hello fellow April peeps! Good to see AORs and PPRs going out!
@ uccembourg- I am somewhat in the same boat as you! Buffalo has had my application for almost 2 months now and still no AOR and I am still stuck on application received on ECAS. A couple of April applicants with the same timeline as myself in the Buffalo thread have gotten AORs over the last week or so. So hopefully by some miracle I will get one soon but I am not counting on it.

Hi Dragoon
how do you order CAIP ? I will have to do it if I don't get anything the next couple months.

Hello all,

Just a little update in my case, I received what I guess is the official AOR by email stating that my application for permanent residency was received by CIC on 06/06/2011, I knew that already when logging in to e-Cas, I'm going to live in Québec so I had to go through MICC to get my QSC which was issued on 06/20/2011, the letter stated that they informed the visa office in charge of processing my application, in this case Buffalo.

As a lot of people stated I did send them a copy of my QSC just in case because looks like sometimes they have some disconnection between offices, I sent it last week, I'm assuming I shouldn't expect too much of a change. I'm hoping they process things faster, I know a lot of people is on waiting list and we all want to finish this ordeal, I have a job waiting for me and I wish I could move ASAP.

I will post any changes to e-Cas if I see any, best of luck to everyone.

And to you! I've updated your record given my interpretation of what you've posted. It's interesting to me that there are so many avenues through the family class. This Quebec wrinkle sounds like it adds to the total wait.

I received my email today that my application was received June 6th. It only took two months LOL. Hopefully this means my application will be reviewed soon fingers crossed!

uccemebug,

are those your comments and your work on emuu.net? I have to say that I liked your photographs of Japan and wish I had the $35 to purchase a copy LOL, but after applying for PR I'm left with hardly any funds :(

Anyways, congratulations on your wonderful work of the nameless Tokyo streets!! Also, great description of the "insane" and "flawed" application process for spousal sponsorship to Canada.

Keep up the great work and hope that one day I can get my hands on your book ;)

Thank you for your kind words. Yes, emuu.net's my ~13 year old website. The book's one I made of my pics while living in my wife's country.

I hear you on the funds, it's an unreasonable tax on us for bringing our spouse to the country. And here I thought the ~$80 spousal visa in Japan was too much! (>_<)

$80??? is that it? wow well yeah, so far i've spent a total of US$1800 for me and my son's Canadian PR, including incidentals such as photographs, courier expenses, official documents from various agencies, etc. And that's considering that we're still up to spend even more for the time when I'll need to send my passport when it's requested, further documentation and other "surprises".

Anyways, good job on your website. And wish you good luck to you and your wife, at least you've already crossed the first hurdle of getting sponsorship approval.

Salvadoreño where are you from? I'm from Santa Tecla, but I have been living for the past 4 years in New York and that's why I'm using the Buffalo office instead of going back home, I finished College this year and I'm hoping my sponsorship will be completed before October.

After is completed I'm planning to make a trip back home, I'll be living in Québec and I have been there several times, I hope we get good news soon, good luck!

:) hi everyone! Just to let you know I received my ppr request from london on august 3rd. Just returned from holiday so it was good timing! Good luck to everyome going through the process.
