Great news on the job offer. I'm amazed that they put in a request for a session of six months duration twenty years ago. Well, amazed probably isn't the right word. Annoyed? Good luck!

Whoo hoo!!! I received my clearance today in the mail from France!! That took only a week. Smiley I'm fedexing it tomorrow to Buffalo. Fingers crossed I'm near the end of this process.

Hopefully a new week with good news will start! ::)

Yay! Welcome to life in Canada.

I've just heard back from CIC on the CAIPS/GCMS request from some weeks back. It confirms that my wife's application has been approved and that the file is closed.

In the notes, it states in support of our application:
"Photos and other evidence of relationship provided - detailed and credible narrative of relationship submitted."

I should hope so, it was about twenty pages long!

Now the drama continues .. my wife is pregnant though we hadn't planned on it since she doesn't have health care. If anyone knows a way of accelerating an OHIP application due to pregnancy I'd love to hear it.

How can the file be close and she doesnt have PR yet?

The system is opaque to me. The documents (a scan of a printed hard copy, sadly) lists the Application # and the Status as "closed".

You're on a roll, cbennett! Sounds like you'll be on this side of the 49th in no time.

Today, I popped by my MP's office with the GCMS data and a form authorizing their access to our application.

They said that they'd follow up with the visa office, and according to the protocols the visa office would have to respond within two business days. I don't know if that'll help us get our passport back any quicker (applying when we received the request for the passport instead of waiting for two weeks would have helped! >_< ) but I thought I'd pass on word about that two day rule. Also, the MP's going to contact the MPP and see what they can learn about getting the OHIP application sped up, if anything.

So helpful!
